Near the end of Rick Hahn’s trade press conference, news broke that Yoan Moncada, baseball’s No. 1 prospect, was being called up by the White Sox. The big news was first reported by Brian Bilek of FutureSox, and was soon after announced by Hahn at the presser.

This is the moment that Sox fans have been waiting for since Moncada was acquired in the Chris Sale deal this winter. He’s the Sox blue chip piece (which is saying something considering the talent they’ve dealt for), and will now finally have a chance to show off his skills in the show.

He was called up by Boston last September for a short stint in the majors, so this isn’t his official debut, but it’s obviously his first in black pinstripes.

Moncada will report immediately to Chicago and be making his Sox debut tomorrow night against the Dodgers. Call me nuts… if he plays the Sox will sell out the game.

Yoan Moncada has arrived.
